Banking Circle takes over German sector peer SEPAexpress

Luxembourg-headquartered payments and banking services company Banking Circle is acquiring German sector peer SEPAexpress.

Banking Circle announced the good news this morning in a press release, specifying that SEPAexpress will have “immediate access to technology infrastructure and financial resources to accelerate its growth”.

Founded in 2015 and trusted by internationally renowned financial institutions and corporates since then, Banking Circle is a fully licenced next generation Payment Bank that is designed to meet banks, payments businesses and marketplaces’ needs. First based in London, the company decided to move its hub for EU customers to Luxembourg in 2017, following the UK’s decision to leave the European Union.

SEPAexpress is a white label technical payment service provider that ensures its customers a fast, secure and cheap mass processing of direct debits and payouts, as an alternative to credit cards.

According to its website, Banking Circle processed over 6% of Europe’s B2C e-commerce flows and over €250 billion in payments volumes in 2021 alone, and will undoubtedly go a step further with this brand-new acquisition.

A success story definitely worth to keep an eye on.
