The Luxembourg Digital Innovation Hub was launched back in 2019 on both the Ministry of the Economy’s and the FEDIL’s initiative. The idea behind was to support the luxembourgish industry sector in its digital transformation, providing additional financial channels and resources.

The appointment of L-DIH as European Digital Innovation Hub (E-DIH) presents as an important step, providing new components – notably in terms of the L-DIH’s operations, structure, and services.
The L-DIH consortium encompasses now the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), the University of Luxembourg, and the University of Luxembourg Competence Center. On top of this, the E-DIH network is composed of 170 E-DIH centers across Europe and is part of the Digital Europe Programme.

On their side, FEDIL, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and the Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR) remains L-DIH’s strategic partners so to exploit synergies.
Besides, the consortium extension amounts to an expansion of L-DIH missions. Until now, L-DIH’s main missions consisted in inspiring, informing, and engaging businesses part of the industrial ecosystem in their digital transformation; there are now three more missions to come, being:
- To support digital skills development and relevant trainings
- To help businesses in “testing before investing” so as to encourage them to try new digital technologies and evaluate their return on investment (ROI) before investing
- To help businesses find funding and investment opportunities for their project related to R&D and digital innovation
The Luxembourg Digital Innovation Hub will be in charge of creating a training catalog listing all available and essential training for digital transformation, and will also lead an analysis of needs so as to complete the existing offer with new training.
Although L-DIH is to preserve a local orientation, it will take benefit from the E-DIH network to favor closer collaboration and access a larger range of digital competencies and technologies.
